CLOSED | Call for Entry: Online Group Exhibition - "In an Instant” November 2020

We are excited to announce that our November 2020 online group exhibition, “In An Instant", is being curated by Polaroid Fanatic and Founder of Analog Forever Magazine, Michael Behlen! To enter, all you need to do is read and respond to the following prompt with your analog photography:
Michael Behlen writes: Our lives and surroundings can change in an instant and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. Photography, instant film specifically, allows us to capture the people, places, and memories that surround us as they once were and hold on to them forever. It's not that we want things to stay the same; however, it sure feels euphoric to pick those seconds of our lives back up and stare at them with nostalgia. I'm not so sure if it matters if we are running from, or toward these moments, but I do know that it provides us with a sense of safety, comfort, and fondness (or heartbreak) that immediately transports us back.
For this month's exhibition, we are looking to feature your best instant film photography. We want to see all of the memories you have hidden away from yourself in your drawers, cabinets, and desks, for us to dive into for one more time. Help us relive your best moments, your worst heartbreaks, and the grandest adventures via this month's online group exhibition, "In An Instant".
We invite you to submit up to two photographs for this exhibition that capture the concept of this theme. We offer no limits to the photographs submitted, other than the fact that they are created with instant film. All photographs made with Polaroid, Fujiroid, or Fuji Instax, new or expired film will be considered. The best of these images will be showcased in an online show curated by the Founder of Analog Forever Magazine, Michael Behlen! This online exhibition will go live on our website on November 16th, 2020. Good luck!

About the Curator
Michael Behlen is an instant film addict and the founder and publisher of Analog Forever Magazine. For the last 6 years, Behlen has become an obsessive community organizer in the film photography world, including launching the independent publishing projects PRYME Magazine and PRYME Editions, two enterprises dedicated to the art of instant film. Through these endeavors, he has featured and published 200+ artists from around the globe via his print and online publications.
He has self-published two Polaroid photobooks-“Searching for Stillness, Vol. 1” and “I Was a Pioneer,” literally a boxed set of his instant film work. His latest book, Searching for Stillness Vol II was published in 2020 by Static Age. He has been published, been interviewed, and been reviewed in a quantity of magazines and online publications, from F-Stop and Blur Magazine to the Analog Talk Podcast. He loves the magic sensuality of instant film: its saturated, surreal colors; the unpredictability of the medium; it’s addictive qualities as you watch it develop. He spends his time shooting instant film and backpacking in the California wilderness, usually a combination of the two.

Submission Guidelines:
Image Specifications:
1) Only .jpg files will be accepted.
2) Images must be 1500px on the shortest side at 72dpi.
3) No photo-shopped borders or watermarks.
4) Only two images may be submitted.
5) Images must be named in the following format: “FirstNameLastName1.jpg”, etc.
Email Specifications:
1) The subject line of your email should state: "Submission: In an Instant”
2) Please ATTACH your images to the email. Do not embed them. Do not attach a google drive or dropbox link.
3) Please do not send PDF or Text Files. Please put all information into the body of the email.
Specific information needed for each Submission:
1) Your name as you would like it to appear.
2) The Camera and Process used to create your images.
3) Titles for each of your photograph(s). Write out each title exactly as you would like it to appear.
4) Email Address in the text of the email.
5) The Website Address you would like your images linked to.
Send your submission to info@analogforevermagazine.com by October 31st, 2020.
