Online Group Exhibition - "Time” August 2022

Analog Forever Magazine is pleased to showcase 35 images in this month’s online exhibition, entitled “Time,” curated by photographic artist, independent curator and juror, and our Editor in Chief, Michael Kirchoff!

The curator writes:

I am always so pleasantly surprised every time I put together another one of these online exhibitions for the magazine. Something very visceral and eye-opening seems to happen. Submissions come in from all over and are ever-increasing, but the most interesting thing that happens is the broad range of interpretation that takes place–especially with this one. My expectations have again been blown to bits, and I’m left with photographs that take me away to another place and, yes, time. My memories come flooding back from the deep recesses of my mind, sometimes for the better, sometimes not. But what’s great is that they remind me of the people, places, and, most importantly, the experiences I’ve had throughout. These photographs are triggers, and I am grateful for each of them.

I wrote the call for this when I was deep in the grip of Covid when I should have been resting and recuperating. Time seemed to move along at a languid pace, and often, not linearly anymore. My thoughts and emotions were jumping around, and I did not seem to feel at peace in any way whatsoever. Initially, and after the fact, I thought that maybe that wasn’t the best idea to write or even think about producing a theme for this exhibition. In hindsight, though, it may have been the only productive and intelligent thing I did while recovering. You’ve presented to me the fever dream that I did not know I was inside and done so in the most spiritual and beautiful manner possible. You’ve taken my past experiences from memory and illustrated time in a meaningful way for me. Yes, the interpretation is broad and includes some unmistakable hallmarks here and there, yet I am able to make it specific and unique with the wonderful imagery you’ve brought forth. Please take a moment to absorb these images and find some time and experiences special to you as well. It’s in there if you give it a chance.
