CLOSED | Call for Entry: Online Group Exhibition - "Glitch in the Matrix" August 2023
Analog Forever Magazine is proud to present “Glitch in the Matrix," an online group exhibition debuting August 2023. This showcase will be expertly curated by photographic artist, independent curator and juror, and Editor of Chief, Michael Kirchoff!
To enter, all you need to do is read and respond to the prompt provided with your film or analog photography. The best of these images will be presented in an online show, launching August 14th, 2023. Good luck!
Prompt:
What was that you saw from the corner of your eye? Turning, churning, fleeting, speeding…did I see that right? Is it me or something supernatural? Do I really want to know? Curiosity killed the cat, they say, but I must know more–I must find answers in these dark recesses of the human mind.
In our modern age, digital aberrations happen all the time–most especially in the early days of experimentation, research, and development. AI is showing this to us now, yet we see improvements occurring almost daily to remove errors and transgressions. But in the early days of photography, there were also mistakes, problems, and peculiar occurrences between chemistry and substrate. We lovingly refer to them now as "happy accidents." Many works embrace this concept and procedure of accidental image-making. For this month's online group exhibition, I want to see where something went both horribly wrong yet so right for the image. We are all flawed and fallible, so it stands to reason that a glitch in the matrix is part of what makes us human, all while striving for perfection.

About the Curator
Michael Kirchoff is a photographic artist, independent curator and juror, and advocate for the photographic arts. He has been a juror for Photolucida’s Critical Mass, and has reviewed portfolios for several fine art photographic organizations and non-profits in the U.S. and abroad. Michael has been a contributing writer for Lenscratch, Light Leaked, and Don’t Take Pictures magazine. In addition, he spent ten years (2006-2016) on the Board of the American Photographic Artists in Los Angeles (APA/LA), producing artist lectures, as well as business and inspirational events for the community. Currently, he is Editor-in-Chief at Analog Forever Magazine, Founding Editor for the photographer interview site, Catalyst: Interviews, Contributing Editor at One Twelve Publishing, and the Co-Host of The Diffusion Tapes podcast.
Submission Guidelines:
Image Specifications:
1) Only .jpg files will be accepted.
2) Images must be 1500px on the shortest side at 72dpi.
3) No photo-shopped borders or watermarks.
4) Only one image may be submitted.
5) Image must be named in the following format: “FirstNameLastName1.jpg”, etc.
Email Specifications:
1) The subject line of your email should state: "Glitch in the Matrix”
2) Please ATTACH your images to the email NOT INSIDE the email. Do not embed them. Do not attach a google drive or dropbox link.
3) Include your information in the format requested (see below).
4) Format Request: “Title” by Your Name | Camera + Film, Process - Your URL
